Stasia M. Shoemaker
Stasia brings to KKHB both academic and practical experience with the law. While attending law school at the University of Iowa she also completed a Ph.D. in Communication with a focus on legal communication and research in jury decision-making. Stasia continued her academic experience as an Assistant Professor of Legal Writing and Analysis at Mercer University Law School in Macon, Georgia. While there she was recognized for her scholarship and coached multiple moot court teams to victories. Stasia returned to her Southern Illinois roots to serve for 10 years as the In-House Counsel for a development corporation where she handled all aspects of commercial real estate development, as well as employment law and business transactions for the corporation’s hotel holdings.
Stasia applies her creativity and practicality to legal issues, creating workable solutions for her real estate and business clients. She concentrates her practice on real estate, corporate law, and business transactions.
In their spare time, Stasia and her husband, Tony, enjoy four-season organic vegetable gardening, beekeeping, and traveling. They like to entertain friends and family by cooking gourmet meals with their fresh produce and eggs from their ducks Lela, Nina, and Evelyn.
